Kyle Durrie, proprietor of Power & Light Press, has perfectly articulated the project of my dreams. Go on the road for a whole season to all the most interesting DIY spaces across North America…but never stop printing! She converted a 1982 bread truck into a fully functioning letterpress print studio (and sleeping cabin).
Lucky for me, I don’t just have to appreciated this project from afar. Durrie left fair Portland behind in the spring and has toured all the way across North America to just to visit us in Halifax.
So come on down and enjoy the excitement. Movable Type will be at NSCAD Granville Campus on Friday September 24; parked near the Seaport Farmers’ Market on Saturday September 25; and at Inkwell Boutique on Market Street on Sunday September 26.

Lately, I’ve been helping out with some community organizing to support our brothers and sisters at the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW). The postal workers’ struggle is important to me because I want to see all workers treated justly. Postal Workers are an integral part of our community who deserve all the love and support we can give them!
Our group Support Postal Workers is all about showing that the community stands in solidarity with postal workers as they strike or are locked out by their employer, Canada Post Corporation. We have been encouraging fellow community members to show their support by placing signs in their windows.

If you missed the Crafters Fair or you came but just didn’t get enough holiday cheer (or beautiful holiday cards) you now have another chance! Come to the Holiday Printers’ Bazaar at the Dawson Printshop to get a hold of amazing letterpress printed cards. All the cards, calanders, gift tags etc were printed slowly by hand by members’ of the Letterpress Gang. Plus there is going to be hot cocoa and cider. Yum!
